Director of Environmental Planning

Responsibilities

• Lead large, complex environmental planning projects and tasks
• Serve as a technical specialist to develop strategies for interdisciplinary projects
• Manage project life cycles, including budgets, resources, and financial performance
• Provide mentorship and career development guidance to junior and mid-level staff
• Act as a primary author or senior reviewer for complex environmental documents
• Represent the firm in client meetings, community workshops, and public hearings
• Participate in marketing and business development efforts as a seller-doer

Requirements

• 20+ years of related work experience in environmental planning
• Bachelor's degree in environmental science or related field (or Master's with 18 years experience)
• Comprehensive knowledge of NEPA and CEQA regulations
• Proven experience leading high-performing teams in California
• Strong ability to manage project budgets and client relationships
• Excellent communication and persuasive speaking skills
