About the role
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and lead comprehensive EH&S programs to identify hazards and ensure regulatory compliance
- Plan and implement safety protocols, including the safe handling of potent compounds
- Perform risk assessments on new or changed processes and recommend engineering, administrative, or PPE controls
- Foster a strong safety culture by ensuring all incidents are reported, investigated, and corrected
- Lead the EH&S team and oversee the work of external contractors and service providers
- Manage regulatory permits including Hazardous Materials Business Plans, Air Pollution Control, and Industrial Wastewater Discharge
- Lead audits with customers and Federal, State, and local governing agencies
- Establish long-term goals, metrics, targets, and KPIs for the EH&S department
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Health, Safety, Engineering, or a related discipline
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant EH&S experience, preferably in biotechnology or pharmaceutical industries
- Minimum of 5 years of leadership or supervisory experience
- Proficiency with FMEA (Failure Mode & Effects Analysis) and RCFA (Root Cause Failure Analysis) techniques
- Experience managing and implementing industrial hygiene programs involving potent compounds
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certification such as CHMM, CSP, or CIH
