Director of Engineering

Responsibilities

• Set and drive the engineering strategy for battery pack programs
• Build, mentor, and develop a cross-disciplinary team of mechanical, electrical, and systems engineers
• Oversee the design and development of lithium-ion battery packs and modules
• Collaborate with program management, procurement, manufacturing, and software groups
• Represent the company in technical discussions with customers and business partners
• Guide adoption of new tools, processes, and materials to enhance performance and safety
• Ensure all battery designs comply with industry standards such as UL, ISO, SAE, and IEC
• Anticipate technical risks and develop mitigation strategies

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline
• 10+ years of engineering experience with a focus on lithium-ion battery packs or related systems
• 5+ years of technical leadership or management experience
• Proven track record in the design, development, and testing of battery systems
• Deep knowledge of battery pack architecture, design principles, and system integration
• Proficiency with CAD tools such as CATIA or SolidWorks
• Familiarity with regulatory standards and certification processes
• Exceptional communication skills for engaging with executives and customers

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s or Ph.D. degree
• Experience with BMS software and control algorithms
• Experience with advanced thermal/mechanical battery pack design
• Background in mathematical modeling, simulation, or advanced battery testing
• Project or program management certification
