Director of Engineering

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team across mechanical, electrical, firmware, software, battery systems, and test engineering
• Establish technical vision, engineering strategy, and development roadmaps
• Build scalable engineering processes, structures, and performance standards
• Oversee the design and development of battery energy storage system (BESS) components
• Guide system architecture decisions for performance, reliability, and manufacturability
• Ensure engineering programs progress from concept through prototyping, validation, and production
• Support product safety and certification efforts (e.g., UL standards)
• Establish development processes including design reviews, FMEA, and documentation standards
• Partner with supply chain teams to evaluate and onboard new suppliers

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering
• Background in energy storage, power electronics, EV, robotics, or industrial systems
• 12+ years of experience in design, development, and launch of complex electro-mechanical applications
• Proven experience launching new industrial products and scaling through repeatable manufacturing
• Experience scaling engineering teams in high-growth or startup environments
• Strong understanding of systems engineering and product lifecycle development
• Strong public speaking and presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated understanding of UL1973, UL9540, UL9540A, NFPA 68, and 69 standards
