Director of Engineering, Infrastructure

Responsibilities

• Lead the definition of platform primitives including compute runtimes, storage, and service networking
• Create golden paths and decision trees to simplify technological choices for R&D teams
• Drive initiatives to enhance production system reliability and proactive capacity planning
• Coordinate with product teams to eliminate infrastructure bottlenecks and improve time-to-market
• Establish frameworks for cost-effective infrastructure management
• Mentor and develop high-performing engineering teams
• Track and report critical performance metrics such as system reliability and infrastructure costs
• Optimize the use of AI to enhance infrastructure management and development processes
• Champion operational readiness by establishing robust SLAs and SLIs
• Lead incident management and postmortems within a blameless culture

Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in infrastructure, SRE, platform engineering, or security engineering
• At least 5 years of experience managing managers and senior individual contributors
• Deep understanding of SRE principles, SLOs, and SLIs
• Experience supporting enterprise-grade web properties at scale
• Technical expertise in public cloud services, container orchestration, service meshing, and observability
• Proven track record of building and scaling engineering teams
• Security-first mindset with experience partnering with security engineering teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience transforming internal platforms into productized services with developer-focused roadmaps
• Background in architecting large-scale data-centric and event-driven systems
• Proven track record of optimizing cost-to-serve and reliability metrics in a scaling SaaS company
