Director of Engineering

Responsibilities

• Oversee the engineering department and ensure satisfactory completion of tasks and projects
• Maintain all equipment and systems including MEP, Fire & Life Safety, and Risk Management standards
• Manage the Preventive Maintenance Program for guest rooms, public areas, and safety systems
• Maintain mechanical rooms including Boiler Plant, chilled water circulation, and air handling units
• Prepare and control monthly and annual engineering department budgets and forecasting
• Manage hotel energy and water usage and associated costs
• Prepare CAPEX expenditures and manage renovation or replacement projects
• Manage landscaping, pool operations, and water treatment logs
• Recruit, schedule, train, and perform appraisals for engineering colleagues
• Manage the hotel emergency response team and ensure compliance with City and State regulations
• Lead a diverse team covering HVAC, kitchen repairs, carpentry, electrical, and plumbing

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering with 5+ years of hotel experience, or technical degree with 8+ years of hospitality project management experience
• Knowledge of municipal, City, State, OSHA, and Fire Department regulations
• Proven negotiation skills with third-party contractors
• Proficiency with computerized maintenance systems
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, luxury hotel environment
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Union experience
• Professional Engineer (PE) designation
