Director of Engineering - Facebook Groups Ranking

Responsibilities

• Drive strategy and set technical direction for Facebook Groups recommendation signals and content platforms.
• Lead the development of modern recommendation architectures to enable rapid ranking model iterations.
• Improve the relevance of recommendation systems for features like Groups Search, Invites, and Feed ranking.
• Leverage Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) to develop breakthrough products for billions of users.
• Foster a culture of rigorous execution, high code quality, and product craftsmanship.
• Collaborate with cross-functional product and engineering leadership to drive innovation and impact.

Requirements

• 15+ years of experience growing and leading successful engineering teams, including technical managers and individual contributors.
• Strong Machine Learning background, specifically with ranking and recommendation systems.
• Proven ability to handle complex problems ranging from technical implementation to high-level strategic planning.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to navigate complex, cross-functional organizations.
• Demonstrated ability to influence senior leadership and drive engineering processes.
