Director of Engineering - Defense Electronics

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a high-impact engineering team responsible for delivering mission-critical defense and aerospace Modular Open Standard Architecture (MOSA) solutions.
• Oversee five unique engineering teams: Prototyping, System Design & Integration, Hardware Design, Test Design, and Product Debug/Support.
• Mentor and manage engineers and managers across multiple levels to foster professional development and technical excellence.
• Partner with Program Management and Operations to ensure products are delivered on time, within budget, and to exacting industry standards.
• Drive technical execution and provide guidance on electrical design, mechanical design, and software architecture.
• Ensure engineering processes comply with AS9100 standards while seeking continuous process optimizations.
• Represent the engineering organization to internal stakeholders and external customers, communicating technical concepts with authority.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in a Director-level position with a proven track record of leadership.
• 15+ years of experience in a solution design organization within the Defense Electronics industry.
• Technical degree in a relevant engineering field.
• Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) solutions.
• Broad technical knowledge in electrical design (schematic to board fabrication), mechanical design (thermal and rugged environments), and software architectures.
• Experience with environmental and electromagnetic qualification testing.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a low to moderate volume, final assembly, and manufacturing environment.
• Proven ability to lead Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) activities.
• Experience managing complex development programs (firm-fixed or cost-plus).
