About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and vision for campus-wide engagement initiatives to promote student involvement, belonging, and school spirit.
- Oversee multiple functional areas including the Volunteer Center, Student Life and Involvement Center (SLIC), Greek Life, Pacific Gaming Center (PGC), and Spirit and Engagement.
- Supervise, train, and evaluate professional and student staff while fostering a high-performing team culture.
- Develop and implement short- and long-term goals aligned with the University’s strategic plan and Student Life priorities.
- Manage departmental budgets and ensure fiscal responsibility and compliance with university policies.
- Establish assessment practices to evaluate program effectiveness and use data to drive continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with campus partners such as Athletics, Orientation, and academic departments to enhance the student experience.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, or a related field.
- Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in student engagement, student life, or related functional areas.
- Demonstrated experience supervising professional staff and managing multiple functional areas.
- Strong understanding of student development theory and engagement best practices.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends to support student programs and events.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in fraternity and sorority life, student organization advising, or civic engagement.
- Experience working at a private, residential university.
- Demonstrated success in building collaborative campus partnerships and managing complex initiatives.
