About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead strategy and vision for one-on-one student relationships and high-quality 1:1 care
- Supervise, recruit, and train the Coffee Crew peer-to-peer student intern team
- Design and implement systems for social connection, including matching programs and community-building events
- Create and operationalize a "Pillar of Caring" to support students through life-cycle events and emotional needs
- Establish and manage emergency and short-term aid processes such as food assistance and small grants
- Coordinate with campus partners like wellness, counseling, and disability services for integrated care plans
- Develop measurement and evaluation tools to track relationship impact and report to leadership
- Manage budgets for the Care Fellowship, care funds, and related programming
Requirements
- Deep empathy and strong relational skills for 1:1 student connections
- Experience designing and scaling peer-support or mentoring programs
- Strong project and program management skills including budget coordination
- Systems-thinking approach to creating sustainable processes and documentation
- Excellent judgment and discretion in handling confidential student situations
- Commitment to Jewish pluralism and the mission of BU Hillel
- Willingness to attend student milestones, occasional evenings, and weekend events
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate degree in Jewish education, nonprofit management, social work, psychology, or related field
- 3–5 years of relevant work experience, ideally in higher education or student services
- Experience leading student engagement, residential life, or campus-based care programs
- Background working with college-aged populations
