About the role
About the Company
Fluidstack is focused on delivering massive scale compute infrastructure for AI. The company acquires power, designs and builds data centers, and operates them with teams spanning hardware and software to accelerate the deployment of frontier AI models.
Responsibilities
- Own the full lifecycle of utility power development projects across multiple US markets, from feasibility to finalized interconnection agreements.
- Build and manage a lean team of energy and utilities specialists.
- Lead negotiations with utilities, energy suppliers, and behind-the-meter generation partners regarding power pricing, capacity, and infrastructure.
- Assess new data center sites for power delivery viability, interconnection risk, and water supply constraints.
- Align utility, power, and water timelines with construction and design teams.
- Manage the energy portfolio, including physical and financial instruments, to enforce SLA requirements and surface rate improvements.
Requirements
- End-to-end experience managing US utility interconnection processes across multiple major markets.
- Proven track record negotiating power purchase agreements and utility service contracts.
- Experience building or scaling an energy or utilities team in a high-growth environment.
- Ability to coordinate across site acquisition, construction, design, and customer teams.
- Proficiency in documenting utility load interconnection processes, including financial commitments and timeline gates.
- Strong communication skills for briefing executives and negotiating with utility leadership.
- Experience hiring and managing teams to deliver power commitments on time.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in energy trading, hedging, or demand response.
- Utility-side background (ISO/RTO or public power entity).
- Deep market expertise in ERCOT, NYISO, MISO, SPP, or SERC.
- Experience with first-of-a-kind deal structures like co-located generation or hybrid grid models.
- Expertise in regulatory and policy navigation, including PUC proceedings and ISO stakeholder processes.
