About the role
Responsibilities
- Serve as the Campus Compliance Officer to ensure institutional adherence to the ADA, Section 504, and the Fair Housing Act.
- Evaluate student requests for support by examining documentation and determining appropriate academic, housing, and physical accommodations.
- Interpret psychosocial and medical reports to assess disability-related needs and develop individualized support plans.
- Lead the operational direction of Disability Services and promote best practices across residential, online, and graduate programs.
- Provide training and educational programming for faculty and staff regarding disability awareness, accommodation approaches, and instructional strategies.
- Utilize assistive technology and digital accessibility resources to support student learning.
- Collaborate with departments such as Residence Life, Admissions, and Student Development to coordinate services.
- Advise students on navigating institutional resources, including academic hearings, job searches, and vocational rehabilitation.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in education, counseling, or psychology.
- 5-7 years of leadership experience in College Disability Support Services.
- Higher education teaching experience.
- Higher education program management experience.
- Experience with assistive technology and providing auxiliary services.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse constituencies, including students, parents, faculty, and staff.
Preferred Qualifications
- EdD or a related Doctoral Degree.
- Thorough knowledge of ADA/504 and FERPA, including relevant case law.
- Strong knowledge of mental health issues and learning development.
- Excellent research, budgetary, and organizational skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
