Director of Development, School of Education & Information Studies

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement a proactive major gift program to support the School of Education & Information Studies
• Manage a growing portfolio of individual major gift prospects
• Partner with the Executive Director of Development, leadership, faculty, and staff to determine market feasibility and strategic fundraising initiatives
• Provide strategic advice and counsel on fundraising programs and space needs
• Conceptualize, plan, and implement special events to support development goals
• Communicate persuasively with donors, alumni, and academic leaders to advance school priorities
• Recruit, orient, and motivate volunteers and staff to support development programs

Requirements

• Minimum of three years of fundraising experience or professional experience in a related field (e.g., sales, marketing, or business development)
• Documented record of soliciting and closing major gifts or similar complex solicitations
• Experience in conceptualizing and implementing special events
• Working knowledge of fundraising principles within a university or research institution setting
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to produce professional business correspondence and proposals
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and a willingness to learn new databases and technologies
• Ability to work some evenings and weekends as needed and travel as required
