Director of Development

Responsibilities

• Oversee a regional and local portfolio of 75-125 constituents to raise philanthropic outright and planned gifts.
• Initiate contact with individual major gift donors and potential donors with capacities between $25,000 and $2,500,000.
• Develop and execute cultivation strategies that align donor interests with institutional priorities.
• Lead successful solicitations by preparing compelling proposals and ensuring timely follow-up and stewardship.
• Maintain a disciplined schedule of appointments and meaningful activities to strengthen donor relationships.
• Document all engagement activities through the donor database and digital relationship management tools.
• Travel to visit portfolio donors in assigned U.S. regions throughout the year.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
• At least 3 years of experience as a front-line, major gift fundraiser.
• Proven experience soliciting a variety of major gifts, including planned gifts and complex vehicles (e.g., trusts, IRA rollovers, real estate).
• Proficiency in Google Suite, Excel, and database CRM programs.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work on-site in Jackson, MS, with occasional evening, weekend, and travel requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with advancement CRM platforms such as Slate, The Raiser’s Edge, or Salesforce.
• Understanding of Community-Centric Fundraising and inclusive leadership principles.
