Director of Development

Responsibilities

• Create and oversee the execution of an annual campaign plan including Annual Fund and Major Gifts
• Drive the Major Gifts program by partnering with the CEO and Board leadership on cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship
• Supervise the Campus Marketing & Development Manager in executing direct mail and digital communications
• Manage and grow a portfolio of Major Gift donors and prospects
• Oversee gift processing, development operations, and donor database maintenance
• Maintain development metrics and forecast fundraising potential for budgeting
• Plan and organize development-related special events
• Identify foundation and grant opportunities and assist in drafting proposals

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required
• Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in development
• 3-5 years in major gift fundraising or demonstrated success in closing major gifts
• Knowledge of fundraising principles, best practices, and planned giving strategies
• Exceptional relationship-building and communication skills
• Passion for the mission of WashU Hillel
• Familiarity with and commitment to the Jewish community

Preferred Qualifications

• CFRE certification
• Knowledge of St. Louis, New York City, Chicagoland, Los Angeles, or Bay Area Jewish philanthropic communities
• Experience in university advancement
