Director of Developer Events

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end developer events strategy for the Cloudflare Developer Platform, including flagship tentpole events, owned experiences, and field programs.
• Set the creative bar for experience design, branding, and storytelling to ensure every touchpoint reflects a developer-first identity.
• Drive developer acquisition and product adoption by defining and tracking key performance metrics.
• Manage a global calendar of 50+ events per year, making disciplined decisions on resource allocation and priority.
• Oversee a significant events budget ($2M+), utilizing ROI frameworks to guide spend and pivot based on performance data.
• Lead cross-functional execution by partnering with DevRel, Product, Sales, and Communications teams.
• Manage external vendors, agencies, and creative contractors to maintain high quality standards.
• Build and lead a high-performing team of event professionals, setting the culture and operating cadence.
• Innovate event formats, exploring hackathons, build-alongs, and hybrid experiences to meet developers in non-traditional settings.

Requirements

• 15+ years of experience in events, experiential marketing, or developer marketing.
• 5+ years of experience in a leadership role managing teams and large-scale budgets.
• Proven experience working with technical or developer audiences.
• Demonstrated ability to manage budgets of $2M or more with financial discipline.
• Strong cross-functional leadership skills with the ability to influence in a matrixed organization.
• Experience with product-led growth (PLG) motions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience producing hybrid or digital-first event formats.
• A strong portfolio of creative event design and execution.
• Ability to operate with speed and comfort in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment.
