Director of Data Engineering

Responsibilities

• Own the vision and technical strategy for data engineering and analytics engineering
• Manage the team's roadmap, balancing long-term investments with stakeholder needs
• Lead and grow the Data Engineering team through hiring and career development
• Design and implement Philo's data platform architecture and technical standards
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions
• Build and maintain stakeholder trust in data products and reporting
• Design scalable data pipelines and infrastructure
• Implement data governance, security, and quality control processes

Requirements

• 10+ years of professional experience in data engineering and analytics engineering
• 4+ years of experience managing and leading data teams
• Deep expertise in AWS data services, Snowflake, dbt, Airflow, Airbyte, Python, and SQL
• Expertise in dbt model design and dimensional modeling
• Strong people management and coaching skills
• Proven track record of designing and implementing data platforms
• Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the media or streaming industry
• Understanding of video delivery analytics and metrics
• Experience driving organizational alignment around data definitions
• Background in data governance, compliance, and data quality frameworks
