Responsibilities
- Own Relay’s earned media presence end-to-end, including media strategy, press coverage, and executive thought leadership
- Lead the relationship with the PR agency, setting the strategic agenda and driving accountability
- Build and manage a proactive media program by expanding relationships with fintech, SMB, and entrepreneurship reporters
- Own executive communications for the CEO and leadership team, including speech writing and media prep
- Drive communications around product launches, brand campaigns, and company milestones
- Monitor and protect brand reputation with a clear-eyed crisis communications playbook
- Measure communications impact through share of voice, earned media quality, and executive visibility
Requirements
- 8+ years in communications, PR, or corporate affairs roles
- Meaningful experience at a high-growth SaaS, fintech, or consumer brand
- Proven track record of owning a media program and building reporter relationships
- Strong executive communications experience, including writing for CEOs
- High editorial bar with the ability to write for small business owners without jargon
- Experience working in a regulated or compliance-adjacent environment
- Ability to build systems and processes for a communications function from scratch
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with brands that serve small business owners or self-employed professionals
- A public point of view on communications, media, or brand (e.g., newsletter, talks, or LinkedIn presence)
- Experience navigating major brand moments such as funding rounds or product controversies
