Responsibilities

• Define collections-related requirements for the new museum, including storage, exhibition, and research
• Collaborate with architects and designers on collections facilities planning and environmental controls
• Oversee and manage Collections Team members and supervise stewardship of archives, libraries, and object collections
• Manage the overall budget for the Collections Team
• Guide digitization strategy and digital access initiatives
• Oversee team monitoring of archives and collections regarding conservation issues
• Coordinate collections team contributions to online exhibits and catalogs
• Implement policies and procedures for collections access by scholars and the public

Requirements

• 10-15+ years of experience in a museum, archive, or library setting
• 5-7+ years of management experience including team leadership and budgeting
• Master’s degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) or Museum Studies
• Deep knowledge of archival and collections processing methodologies
• Familiarity with library and archival standards (e.g., AAT, LCSH, DACS)
• Experience with risk management and disaster response planning for collections
• Knowledge of museum-grade storage and environmental standards
