About the Company

Founded in 1951, The Corning Museum of Glass (CMoG) is the global center of glass art, science, and history. The museum attracts over 300,000 visitors annually and maintains an internationally renowned collection of more than 50,000 objects representing 3,500 years of history.

Responsibilities

  • Provide curatorial vision, collections stewardship, and staff development for the directorate
  • Set and support best practices for Curatorial, Collections Management, Conservation, and Photography departments
  • Develop an exhibition program that raises the museum's profile and contributes new scholarship
  • Oversee the museum’s glass acquisition program and departmental budgets
  • Partner with the President and Executive Director to achieve key institutional initiatives
  • Collaborate with the advancement department on fundraising and donor stewardship
  • Lead and empower a multidisciplinary team of approximately 20 staff members
  • Enhance regional, national, and international engagement through community and digital outreach

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in programmatic or institutional innovation within a museum setting
  • Proven success as a senior museum leader with experience in organizational leadership
  • Advanced degree in art history, material culture, conservation, or related fields
  • Expertise in collections management and curatorial affairs best practices
  • Strong record of successful administration and personnel management
  • Proven success in developing donor relations and stewarding gifts
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with a record of publications
  • Ability to manage complex, concurrent projects with a resourceful mindset

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience collaborating with board members, collectors, and institutional partners
  • Ability to apply an interdisciplinary lens of art, history, and science to collections engagement
