Director of Clinical Education

Responsibilities

• Oversee the operation of clinical externships and manage both on- and off-campus clinical sites
• Teach graduate and undergraduate speech pathology clinical and professional coursework
• Direct clinical education and supervision for students earning clinical contact hours
• Manage the day-to-day operations of the Xavier University Speech-Language and Hearing Clinic (XUSHC)
• Expand and secure affiliation agreements to provide diverse clinical opportunities
• Mentor students and serve as a liaison between clinical education and academic coursework
• Maintain documentation and compliance records in accordance with CAA standards
• Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum discussions, and university service

Requirements

• Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology
• ASHA CCC-SLP certification
• Louisiana licensure or eligibility for licensure
• Minimum of five years of experience practicing as a speech-language pathologist (SLP)
• Minimum of two years of experience supervising SLPs, SLPAs, CFs, or SLP students
• Demonstrated ability to provide effective clinical education and instruction
• Proficient written and spoken English
• Commitment to supporting a diverse student population and the mission of Xavier University

Preferred Qualifications

• SLP Doctorate (SLP-D)
• Prior college-level teaching experience in Speech Pathology or Communication Sciences and Disorders
• Clinical experience working with linguistically, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse communities
• Five years of experience supervising graduate students, undergraduate students, or CFs
• Administrative experience, including data collection and reporting
• Familiarity with accreditation and professional standards relevant to SLP education
