Director of Career Planning

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for a comprehensive, outcomes-driven career development program for students and alumnae.
• Develop and implement a data-informed career services strategy aligned with the College’s Strategic Plan.
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with local, regional, and national employers to expand internships and job opportunities.
• Oversee the design and delivery of career development models, including workshops, career counseling, and classroom presentations.
• Partner with faculty and academic departments to integrate career readiness into the curriculum and student experience.
• Manage departmental operations, including budget, policies, and the optimization of career services technology platforms like Handshake.
• Supervise, mentor, and evaluate Career Planning staff and graduate student interns.
• Lead departmental assessment efforts to evaluate program effectiveness and inform continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Master's degree in counseling, student development, higher education administration, or a related field.
• Significant experience in career services or career development.
• Demonstrated leadership and supervision experience.
• Experience with assessment, data analysis, and program evaluation.
• Valid NC Driver's License and a clear driving history.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional certifications such as career counseling/coaching credentials (e.g., NACE, NCDA) or leadership/HR certifications (e.g., SHRM).
• Proven success in building employer partnerships and external professional networks.
• Experience with Gallup Strengths Coaching or similar assessment tools.
