Director of Care

Responsibilities

• Facilitate and promote Resident choice and Resident-centered care within the Home
• Assist with hiring, performance management, discipline, and termination of team members
• Maintain high standards of care aligning with policies, ORCA standards, and Retirement Home regulations
• Liaise with external community partners to enhance services provided
• Oversee Resident care needs and ensure care plans are developed and updated
• Support IPAC and quality improvement initiatives
• Review falls and incidents and implement risk minimization strategies
• Support marketing teams by facilitating timely resident assessments
• Lead the Resident Care Team in developing departmental goals and revising policies
• Manage scheduling, staffing needs, and effective staffing patterns
• Collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary team

Requirements

• Registered RPN with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• 3-5 years of experience managing or supervising staff in a unionized environment
• Strong ability to manage a budget and participate in the budgeting process
• Valid CPR and First Aid certification
• Working knowledge of risk and quality management principles
• Experience working with seniors and the geriatric population
• Clear understanding of Resident-centered care, Resident rights and RHA 2010
• Proficiency in YARDI, MedeCare, and Windows-related programs
