Director of Campus Safety and Security

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and strategic direction for the Department of Campus Safety and Security, managing a 24/7/365 operation.
• Oversee all public safety operations, including security patrols, fire safety, parking, traffic management, and incident investigations.
• Serve as the College’s Clery Coordinator, ensuring full compliance with the Jeanne Clery Act, including Annual Security Reports and crime logging.
• Lead emergency management planning, response, and recovery efforts as a member of the Critical Incident Response Team.
• Manage departmental recruitment, training, scheduling, and supervision of full-time and part-time officers.
• Coordinate with local law enforcement, fire, and emergency agencies to ensure effective campus-wide crisis response.
• Develop and implement departmental policies, standard operating procedures, and safety education programs for the campus community.
• Manage the departmental budget and maintain accurate documentation of all incidents and reports.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
• Minimum of five years of experience in security, law enforcement, or public safety.
• At least three years of experience in a supervisory or management role.
• Demonstrated expertise in Clery Act compliance and emergency management planning.
• Valid driver's license.
• Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications (or the ability to obtain them).
• Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Criminal Justice, Public Safety, Emergency Management, or a related field.
• FEMA Emergency Management Institute certification.
