About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead the development, coordination, and administration of the University’s annual operating budget and multi-year capital budget.
- Establish and maintain institutional budget policies, timelines, and procedures.
- Lead institutional financial forecasting, variance analysis, and the development of revenue models.
- Prepare executive-level financial reporting and analysis for senior leadership and the Board of Trustees.
- Supervise Budget Analyst staff, providing performance management, coaching, and professional development.
- Optimize budget systems, data structures, and reporting tools in partnership with IT and the Controller’s Office.
- Partner with senior leadership and academic units to align financial resources with institutional strategic priorities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field (equivalent professional experience may be considered).
- 8+ years of progressively responsible experience in budgeting, financial planning, or financial analysis.
- 5+ years of supervisory experience.
- Strong analytical and financial modeling skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in business or a related field.
- CPA (active or inactive) designation.
- Experience in higher education finance or within a complex, decentralized organization.
- Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., Ellucian Banner) and financial planning tools.
- Experience with business intelligence tools such as Power BI.
- Advanced expertise in Microsoft Excel for complex data analysis.
