About the role
Responsibilities
- Oversee all facets of station operations, including programming, engineering, underwriting, fundraising, marketing, and regulatory compliance.
- Serve as the primary liaison to the public, university administration, FCC, CPB, and other national media organizations.
- Develop and administer annual budgets involving university allocations, federal/state grants, and listener contributions.
- Direct public radio fundraising strategies, including digital campaigns, major gifts, and on-air pledge drives.
- Drive content strategy and audience growth by analyzing media consumption habits and emerging digital trends.
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate professional station staff and student broadcasters.
- Ensure absolute compliance with FCC-mandated public inspection files and Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) rules.
- Host classical music programming or act as a local host for network news programs as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in communication, media, journalism, business administration, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of professional experience in broadcasting, media, or communications.
- At least 3 years of demonstrated management or leadership experience in a media or communications setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant field.
- Direct experience in public broadcasting operations and CPB guidelines.
- Experience with public media fundraising structures and donor stewardship.
- Documented experience administering and adhering to FCC regulations in a professional setting.
