About the role

Responsibilities

  • Lead media relations for Athletics, including writing news releases, student-athlete profiles, and hometown stories
  • Manage the athletics website (AlmaScots.com) and all social media platforms in accordance with NCAA regulations
  • Oversee the accurate and timely management of sports statistics and report results to the MIAA and NCAA
  • Coordinate live statistics and live video streaming for home athletic events
  • Oversee the production of game day programs, media guides, and athletics promotional videos
  • Manage athletics branding, content strategy, and brand positioning
  • Promote student-athletes for conference, regional, and national awards and honors
  • Supervise sports information interns and student assistants
  • Collaborate with the Office of Communications and Marketing on photography, branding, and marketing initiatives
  • Assist with game management, event operations, and Athletics Hall of Fame events

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in communications or a related field
  • Strong writing, organization, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the athletic schedule
  • Valid driver's license and a good driving record
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, faculty, students, and staff across disciplines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in sports information, web content management, or live stats and video production
  • Proficiency with sports statistics software
  • Experience in publication development
  • Experience working with underrepresented, first-generation, Pell-eligible, and diverse populations
