Director of Advising

Responsibilities

• Oversee the Academic and Career advising team for Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors within the College of Arts and Sciences and Maxwell School.
• Implement, oversee, and assess advising and support programs to promote student success and increase 4-year and 6-year graduation rates.
• Conceptualize and develop proactive programming to enhance the effectiveness of academic and career advising.
• Act as a mediator between students, faculty, and parents to resolve complex academic or behavioral concerns.
• Provide assistance to students in crisis and collaborate with campus resources like Student Assistance.
• Directly supervise two Assistant Directors of Advising and manage the professional development of the upper-level advising team.
• Evaluate and assess the success of academic and career programming annually to drive continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Master's degree required.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in academic and career advising.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse constituencies, including faculty, administrators, and students.

Preferred Qualifications

• Doctoral work in a relevant field.
• Familiarity with Syracuse University policies and advising processes.
