Director of Advancement

Responsibilities

• Own and drive day-to-day progress toward fundraising goals using industry best practices
• Oversee staff responsible for individual, foundation, and corporate giving
• Grow pipeline of major and principal gift donors and manage a diverse portfolio
• Operationalize fundraising strategies and ensure teams have necessary resources
• Use data to track performance measures and evaluate development program efficacy
• Develop execution plans for affinity groups, including young professionals and planned giving
• Support the CEO and CAO in fundraising and development-related initiatives
• Strengthen collaboration across departments to reinforce a culture of philanthropy

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience as a fundraiser
• Proven track record of securing major gifts from individuals, foundations, and corporations
• Extensive experience in leadership and people management
• Deep experience using data to inform fundraising strategies and decision-making
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Strategic thinking and ability to lead change
• Passion for K-12 education excellence and the organization's mission

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Raiser’s Edge
• Working knowledge of the New York City funding community and trends
