About the role

Responsibilities

  • Drive technical execution for smart infrastructure electrification and automation product development.
  • Build, scale, and mentor high-performing engineering teams, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
  • Lead simulation and AI/ML-enabled design efforts to accelerate development cycles and reduce physical prototyping.
  • Manage the Overhead Line Distribution portfolio, including product lines like CMR and Fusesaver.
  • Support emerging technologies such as Solid State Transformers (SST) and DC transition initiatives.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Strategy, PLM, Manufacturing, and Sales to align roadmaps and ensure seamless product launches.
  • Facilitate knowledge transfer from global R&D centers to establish local technical expertise.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or a related technical field).
  • 7-10 years of progressive R&D experience in power systems or medium-voltage distribution.
  • 3-5 years of experience leading engineering teams delivering complex hardware, firmware, or software products.
  • Domain expertise in medium-voltage power distribution (e.g., reclosers, circuit protection, switchgear).
  • Hands-on experience with advanced simulation tools and AI/ML-enabled design practices.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
  • Ability to work onsite in Wendell, NC.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in Electrical/Power Systems, Mechatronics, or related fields.
  • Background in utility industry or distribution automation and grid modernization.
  • Experience with technology integration from global R&D centers or M&A activities.
  • Demonstrated patent portfolio or technical publications in relevant domains.
  • Familiarity with Solid State Transformers (SST) or DC distribution systems.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary range of $145,000 - $248,000 annually.
  • Target incentive of 20% of the base salary.
