Director of Accounting & Financial Reporting

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of annual consolidated financial statements in accordance with GAAP
• Manage the external audit process and serve as the primary liaison with independent auditors
• Oversee audit and compliance requirements for 403(b) retirement savings plans
• Direct financial reporting for University subsidiaries and real estate holdings
• Manage debt compliance, bond commitments, and bank covenant monitoring
• Optimize cash management strategies to maximize short-term investment returns
• Supervise and develop the accounting and Cashier’s office team
• Provide expert financial analysis and data-driven insights to support strategic decision-making

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or a closely related field from an accredited business school
• 5+ years of professional accounting experience
• Proven experience with the preparation of financial statements
• Strong understanding of GAAP and current banking processes
• Working knowledge of national and local tax regulations and compliance reporting
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license
• Experience with fund accounting
• Experience in Higher Education institutions
• Experience overseeing payroll or purchasing functions
• Proficiency with Ellucian Banner and Tableau software
• Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) or equivalent advanced degree
