About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation of annual consolidated financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Manage the external audit process and serve as the primary liaison with independent auditors
- Oversee audit and compliance requirements for 403(b) retirement savings plans
- Direct financial reporting for University subsidiaries and real estate holdings
- Manage debt compliance, bond commitments, and bank covenant monitoring
- Optimize cash management strategies to ensure sufficient working capital
- Supervise and develop the accounting and Cashier’s office team
- Provide expert financial analysis and data-driven insights to support strategic decision-making
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a closely related field from an accredited business school
- 5+ years of professional accounting experience
- Proven experience with the preparation of financial statements
- Strong understanding of GAAP and banking processes
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Working knowledge of national and local tax regulations and compliance reporting
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license
- Experience with fund accounting
- Experience in a Higher Education institution
- Experience overseeing payroll or purchasing functions
- Proficiency with Ellucian Banner and Tableau software
- Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) or equivalent advanced degree
