About the role
Responsibilities
- Implement disability services and manage accommodations based on legal and college policies.
- Develop and conduct office intake procedures for students with documented disabilities.
- Review and interpret confidential psycho-educational, psychological, and medical assessments to determine eligibility.
- Manage a caseload of students, providing training in self-advocacy, advising, and learning strategy enhancement.
- Provide training, technical assistance, and consulting to faculty, staff, and administration regarding reasonable accommodations and universal design.
- Supervise support staff, including note-takers, lab aides, and sign language interpreters.
- Coordinate testing accommodations and manage the grievance process related to accessibility services.
- Oversee the office budget, including resource allocation for assistive technology and personnel.
- Serve on college committees, including the Behavioral Intervention Team and as a Title IX investigator.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Special Education, Psychology, Higher Education Administration, Adult Basic Education, or a related field.
- At least two years of professional experience working with students with disabilities.
- Working knowledge of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA/ADAAA), and FERPA.
- Ability to interpret results of psycho-educational test instruments and diagnostic tools.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and database management/student tracking software.
- Strong communication, program management, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within a post-secondary educational system.
- Knowledge of assistive computer technology and resources (e.g., Kurzweil, Zoom).
- Experience with student information systems such as Ellucian Colleague.
- Current knowledge of learning disabilities and other disabilities as they manifest in post-secondary populations.
