Director, News Product and Operations

Responsibilities

• Own the vision, strategy, and roadmap for content creation and coordination tools
• Lead the modernization of newsroom computer systems and production workflows
• Partner with journalists, producers, and editors to understand content creation workflows
• Manage portfolio budgets across development, licensing, and vendor services
• Evaluate vendor platforms, AI capabilities, and automation opportunities
• Lead, manage, and mentor a team of product managers
• Establish governance, documentation, and success metrics for scaling tools

Requirements

• 8+ years of product management or media technology experience
• Proven history of product leadership and managing complex portfolios
• Experience leading product teams and senior individual contributors
• Strong knowledge of newsroom computer systems and editorial planning tools
• Experience managing complex integrations and legacy system migrations
• Proficiency in Agile methodologies, including roadmap and backlog management
• Experience managing product budgets and vendor costs
• Strong user research and stakeholder management skills

• Deep empathy for content creators working under high-pressure environments
• Technical fluency to engage with engineering and architecture teams
• Practical knowledge of AI and automation applications in media
