Director, Network & Infrastructure

Responsibilities

• Manage and expand the University’s network, servers, and telecommunications infrastructure across multiple campuses.
• Lead and mentor the Network and Infrastructure staff, including hiring and performance evaluations.
• Oversee the operation of three full-function data centers and monitor the health of the network infrastructure.
• Install, configure, and troubleshoot routers, firewalls, switches, and other infrastructure components.
• Develop and implement strategies for IT data security, privacy, and network security principles.
• Manage operational area projects, including scheduling, resource management, and budget reporting.
• Research and propose new technologies and services to enhance functionality and cost-effectiveness.
• Collaborate with senior IT leadership on division-wide initiatives and policy development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in IT or a related field.
• 10+ years of hands-on experience with network infrastructure.
• 3+ years of experience in people and project management.
• Thorough knowledge of data communications, network technologies, server hardware, and storage systems.
• Practical experience implementing and administrating TCP/IP-based services (DNS, DHCP, HTTP, FTP, SMTP, etc.).
• Ability to work in a 24/7/365 support environment, including rotating on-call responsibilities.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record (must be insurable).
• Ability to travel between various university campuses.

Preferred Qualifications

• Industry certifications in a relevant technical field.
• Experience with Aruba, Nortel, Cisco, MS Server, or IP Telephony products.
• Experience with formal change management control and RFP processes.
• Experience with performance monitoring, packet sniffing, and packet shaping tools.
