About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver single-site natural hazard risk engineering assessments, including structural vulnerability reviews and loss estimation.
- Conduct site visits to assess physical exposures to earthquake, windstorm, and flood, producing high-quality engineering reports.
- Manage and deliver portfolio-level natural catastrophe modelling assessments using industry-recognised models such as RMS, KatRisk, or JBA.
- Provide subject matter expertise on catastrophe model capabilities, limitations, and appropriate applications for corporate risk consulting.
- Support clients in identifying and quantifying physical climate risks in alignment with regulatory frameworks like TCFD and CSRD.
- Drive business development and manage client relationships to support revenue growth within the Natural Catastrophe and Climate Risk Management business.
- Lead and mentor analyst teams to ensure consulting assignments are delivered on time and within budget.
Requirements
- Proven experience running and evaluating catastrophe modelling platforms (e.g., RMS, AIR/Verisk, RQE, KatRisk).
- Engineering background in a relevant discipline such as civil, structural, or geotechnical engineering.
- Proficiency in GIS platforms (QGIS or ArcGIS) for spatial hazard and exposure analysis.
- Working knowledge of programming or database languages (SQL, R, or Python) for data processing and modelling workflows.
- Strong understanding of the physical climate risk regulatory landscape, including TCFD, CSRD, and ESG frameworks.
- Excellent client management, project management, and business development skills.
- Ability to communicate complex scientific and modelling concepts to non-technical audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in post-loss or forensic engineering assessments.
- Experience conducting site-level risk engineering assessments for earthquake, wind, or flood perils.
