Director Middle Market Direct Lending

Responsibilities

• Originate and execute Private Equity sponsor-driven Middle Market transactions, specifically focusing on Term Loans and Unitranche facilities.
• Act as deal captain to structure and execute transactions supporting Private Equity sponsors’ LBO activities.
• Drive profitable dealflow from the PE Mid-Market community in EMEA, with a primary focus on the UK market.
• Develop and maintain a strong network of Private Equity relationships to originate business across MMDL and other relevant products.
• Lead deal execution to ensure high-quality transaction delivery, risk management, and client satisfaction.
• Negotiate terms and documentation for leveraged finance transactions in collaboration with Leveraged Capital Markets.
• Support risk management of onboarded assets in partnership with the Portfolio Management team.
• Mentor and develop junior team members within the broader Leveraged Finance team.

Requirements

• Extensive experience transacting sponsor-backed leveraged finance transactions in lead roles within the UK Middle Market.
• Proven ability to source deals in the UK Middle Market (EBITDA £20-50m).
• Expertise in sub-investment grade credit analysis, cash flow modelling, and documentary negotiation.
• Strong existing relationships with Private Equity capital markets teams in the UK.
• Experience working within a banking or debt fund environment.
• Degree level education or equivalent professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Relevant post-degree professional qualifications such as CFA, ACA, or an MBA.
