Director, Microgrid & Distributed Energy Strategy

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end development of distributed energy and microgrid projects from identification to energization
• Build and own campus-level technoeconomic models across microgrid topologies including solar, storage, and gas
• Drive the full development lifecycle including site selection, permitting, commercial structuring, and financing
• Manage EPCs, OEMs, and internal teams to ensure construction and commissioning accountability
• Negotiate high-impact commercial agreements and technology pilots
• Develop novel market structures and commercial templates to unlock speed and certainty in power access
• Partner with Public Affairs to shape permitting, interconnection, and market rules
• Publish technically grounded research to strengthen industry credibility

Requirements

• 10+ years in energy development, power markets, or infrastructure strategy
• Proven track record of owning energy projects from identification through energization at 200 MW scale or greater
• Hands-on expertise in technoeconomic modeling for solar, storage, and gas hybrid topologies
• Deep understanding of permitting, interconnection, reliability, and project bankability
• Engineering degree required; advanced technical degree strongly preferred
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for decision-grade materials

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience at a leading large-scale microgrid company
• Direct project experience with gigawatt-scale site planning
• Familiarity with large flexible loads such as data centers or industrial compute
• Established network across microgrid developers, OEMs, EPCs, utilities, and financiers
