Director, Mechanical Engineering

We believe that solving the affordability crisis requires a vertically integrated development approach: buying land, and manufacturing, installing, and selling homes directly to customers.

Responsibilities

• Lead design of both structural and non-structural build system components
• Build and lead the engineering team in charge of build component design
• Maintain full ownership of CAD models of components
• Obtain and maintain all necessary certifications and approvals for build system components
• Create engineering drawings and work instructions for manufacturing and assembly
• Design and implement production equipment, processes, and tooling
• Track KPIs to understand how engineering and manufacturing decisions impact quality and cost per square foot

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in hardware development
• Strong technical background in mechanical design, structural analysis, DFMA, and production
• Experience with CAD and FEA software packages
• Proven experience delivering large complex hardware products from prototypes to full-rate production
• Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and leadership skills
