Director, Materials and Processing

Responsibilities

• Lead and build a team of 40+ engineers, scientists, and technicians across multiple locations and shifts
• Set strategic priorities for the Materials and Processing (M&P) department to support fusion power deployment
• Manage multi-million dollar operational budgets for design, manufacturing, and R&D activities
• Mentor and develop leaders across Engineering, Test and Characterization, and Fusion Materials Program verticals
• Communicate technical outcomes, department KPIs, and overall strategy to executive leadership
• Interface with cross-functional stakeholders in core engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing to resolve technical challenges
• Influence long-term procurement strategy by translating product requirements into material inputs

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in materials, welding, nuclear, or chemical engineering (or similar)
• 12+ years of experience in materials and process engineering
• 10+ years of experience in leadership roles managing multi-disciplinary technical teams
• Experience building, justifying, and managing budgets for projects and work centers
• Proficiency with project management tools, such as JIRA
• Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced engineering environment and maintain a strong safety culture
