Director, Legal - Privacy & Data

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of privacy legal experts advising the business across the Americas region on data privacy and protection laws (including COPPA, CCPA, and other state/federal laws)
• Partner with the SIE Global Privacy Team to maintain and scale the global privacy program
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product, Engineering, Information Security, IT, and Marketing to solve privacy and data issues
• Lead responses to evolving data protection laws, breach notification frameworks, and other regulations impacting personal information processing in the US
• Design, develop, and implement data privacy policies, standards, and processes for SIE business operations in the Americas
• Provide strategic advice to balance consumer privacy protection with business data collection and strategic needs

Requirements

• At least 15 years of experience managing US domestic and global privacy and data protection compliance
• Mix of private practice and in-house experience, including supervisory or managerial roles
• Ability to acquire and maintain Registered In-House Counsel status in California
• Experience creating and implementing international and domestic data protection policies
• Familiarity with social privacy issues, data governance, and emerging technologies like AI
• Strong ability to communicate complex legal and technical concepts to non-legal professionals and senior management

Preferred Qualifications

• CA bar membership
• Privacy certifications such as CIPP/US or CIPP/E
