Director, Legal Patent Litigation

Responsibilities

• Manage and support defensive patent litigation matters in U.S. federal courts, the ITC, and foreign jurisdictions
• Work with outside counsel on litigation strategy, discovery, motion practice, expert development, and trial preparation
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders to gather facts, assess risk, and support responses to legal actions
• Lead preparation and review of infringement and invalidity claim charts in collaboration with technical teams
• Support early case assessment and dispute resolution efforts
• Lead team analysis and response to patent assertion letters, NPE demands, and indemnity requests
• Coordinate internal technical reviews and partner with IP and engineering teams
• Contribute to development of litigation processes and best practices
• Participate in and lead settlement negotiations

Requirements

• JD degree and admission to practice law in a U.S. state
• Strong communicator with ability to simplify complex legal and technical concepts
• Practical, solution-oriented, and collaborative approach
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and exercise sound judgment
• Comfortable working cross-functionally with legal, engineering, finance, and business teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Technical degree (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field)
• Experience in semiconductor patent litigation
• Experience managing cases in W.D. Tex., E.D. Tex., N.D. Cal., or the ITC
• Experience developing and leading a high-performing team
• Experience at both a top law firm and a high-tech company
