Director – IT SOX

Responsibilities

• Own and lead the end-to-end IT and Financial Reporting SOX program, ensuring effective design, operating effectiveness, and remediation.
• Oversee IT General Controls (ITGCs), IT application controls (ITACs), and automated controls across all financial reporting systems.
• Lead annual IT risk assessments to determine SOX scope for existing systems, new applications, and technology changes.
• Direct all phases of SOX testing, including planning, walkthroughs, testing, review, and reporting.
• Review SOC 1 Type II reports and assess control implications, including Complementary User Entity Controls (CUECs).
• Coordinate with external auditors for walkthroughs, evidence submission, and issue resolution.
• Identify opportunities to automate IT and SOX controls to reduce manual effort and increase auditor reliance.
• Lead, coach, and mentor the in-house SOX team to foster technical excellence and accountability.

Requirements

• 10 to 15 years of IT SOX experience, including experience in public company settings.
• Educational background in CA, CPA, IT, or MBA Engineering.
• Deep expertise in the COSO framework and PCAOB standards.
• Strong working knowledge of ITGC, ITAC, and financial reporting SOX.
• Proven ability to interpret and leverage SOC 1 and SOC 2 reports.
• Solid understanding of IT environments, including ERP systems, cloud platforms, DevOps, and change pipelines.
• Demonstrated success leading and managing in-house SOX teams.
• Excellent communication skills to convey IT and financial risks to senior management and audit committees.
