Director, Instrument Development Acceleration

Responsibilities

• Lead the rapid design and development of laboratory instruments from concept to high-volume operational use
• Architect integration frameworks connecting virtual laboratory environments with physical instrumentation and robotics
• Maintain hardware-software integration standards and quality assurance processes
• Make pragmatic technical decisions across software, hardware, and systems integration
• Partner with AI researchers, software engineers, and robotics teams to drive deployment
• Build lean development practices prioritizing speed and system reliability

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related field
• 10+ years in engineering or technical leadership delivering complex systems at scale
• Strong coding ability in C++, Python, or Java
• Deep experience in hardware-software integration
• Proven ability to lead complex systems integration across software, hardware, and robotic platforms

Preferred Qualifications

• Ph.D. in a relevant field
• Experience with agile or lean development in high-throughput environments
• Knowledge of AI, robotics, and simulation technologies applied to lab automation
• Experience with system monitoring, performance optimization, and QA in hardware-software environments
• Track record of scaling teams during rapid growth
