About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee Commercial Credit Risk in Quebec, ensuring business strategies and loan portfolios comply with regulations and internal policies.
- Manage a team of adjudicators, contributing to the profitable growth and quality of the Quebec Commercial Credit portfolio.
- Adjudicate credit requests up to established limits and provide recommendations for larger loans.
- Monitor portfolio performance, including risk rating migration, NAL formations, and annual reviews, initiating corrective actions when necessary.
- Partner with Commercial, Professional, and Private Banking groups to negotiate credit terms and restructure proposals into bankable solutions.
- Foster future leaders by strengthening adjudication capabilities and enhancing core leadership attributes across the team.
- Ensure adherence to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk standards.
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in financial analysis or credit adjudication.
- Post-Secondary Education in business or a related area (Master's degree preferred).
- Deep understanding of Commercial Banking and credit policies/procedures.
- Expert skills in financial analysis, accounting, risk assessment, and developing creative financing proposals.
- Expert understanding of security documentation, legal ramifications, and remedies.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams of adjudicators and credit officers.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and French (written and oral) is required.
- Ability to make decisions under uncertainty and clearly communicate rationale.
