Director, Great Plains Science

Responsibilities

• Manage a high-performing team of 2-4 science specialists
• Develop and implement strategies, budgets, and timelines for the Great Plains Program
• Build and maintain partnerships with government, non-profits, ranching communities, and Native Nations
• Coordinate with policy and government affairs teams to support grassland conservation advocacy
• Lead fundraising efforts, including proposal development and donor engagement
• Serve on the Great Plains leadership team to drive program integration

Requirements

• Master's degree in a related field (PhD preferred)
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience
• Expert scientific knowledge of grassland conservation drivers and threats
• Experience managing complex projects, staff, and budgets
• Proven track record in fundraising and proposal writing
• Experience working in the Great Plains ecoregion
• Strong communication and partnership development skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge and experience working with Native nations in the Northern Great Plains
• Cross-cultural experience
• Experience managing external consultants and contractors
