About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and coordination of the annual operating and capital budget processes.
- Drive long-range financial planning, quarterly forecasting, and special projects such as debt affordability and enrollment planning.
- Manage and mentor the financial planning and budgeting team, including the Assistant Director and Financial Analyst.
- Oversee capital budget processes, ensuring alignment with university strategic plans and compliance with GAAP.
- Partner with university leadership and the President’s Cabinet to provide financial decision support through modeling and ratio analysis.
- Optimize the use of financial systems, specifically Workday and Adaptive Planning, to improve reporting and budgeting efficiency.
- Monitor revenue and expense forecasts, analyzing variances and recommending corrective actions.
- Oversee position control in partnership with Human Resources and Academic Affairs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
- 8-10 years of experience in budgeting, financial analysis, and reporting.
- Strong working knowledge of accounting and financial principles.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present to senior leadership.
- Proven ability to manage staff and handle complex financial modeling.
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA or CPA certification.
- Experience using Workday or Adaptive Planning.
- Experience working within a higher education institution.
