Director Field Medical Capabilities

Responsibilities

• Establish and implement field-based Medical Affairs excellence programs and global standards across the organization.
• Lead the creation and governance of global standards for field medical execution, including SOPs, playbooks, and toolkits.
• Partner with Global, Regional, and Local teams to ensure strategic alignment and enable appropriate local adaptation.
• Act as a strategic consultant to regional teams regarding CRM capability, supporting requirements, usability, and adoption.
• Define and establish global alignment for MSL activities, skill development, and performance tracking through consistent KPIs and scorecards.
• Drive an insights-driven mindset by shaping global insight standards and feedback loops to inform medical strategy.
• Collaborate with training teams to define a global field medical capability framework and curricula for onboarding and competency development.
• Champion the use of AI and digital enablement to improve field effectiveness and MSL skill development.

Requirements

• Minimum 10 years of experience in the Pharmaceutical or Biotechnology industry.
• Proven leadership experience in Medical Affairs, field medical excellence, or medical operations.
• Demonstrated experience leading teams or capabilities within a highly matrixed global organization.
• Experience working with CRM and digital platforms in a consultative or enablement capacity.
• Strong capability in data-driven performance enablement, including KPI design and dashboard management.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
• Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or business field.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience as an MSL, MSL Manager, or in Medical Operations within a rare disease organization.
• Experience leading communities of practice and managing large-scale change programs across regions.
• Proven track record of coaching and mentoring high-performance teams in complex business environments.
• Experience operationalizing knowledge hubs such as SharePoint or dedicated MSL Hubs.
