About the role
Responsibilities
- Manage the operational infrastructure, maintenance, and physical assets for the Daniels Faculty, including historic and modern buildings.
- Oversee the planning, budgeting, and execution of maintenance requirements and infrastructure renewal projects.
- Implement deferred and major maintenance projects and capital improvements in compliance with applicable codes and standards.
- Provide expertise and consultation for specialized infrastructure needs in studios, workshops, fabrication areas, and research laboratories.
- Liaise and collaborate with central University units regarding space management, property maintenance, risk management, and security.
- Supervise a space management team within a unionized environment.
- Support the operational needs of public programs and exhibitions hosted by the faculty.
Requirements
- University degree in engineering, architecture, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in facilities and space management.
- Proven experience managing and supervising teams in a unionized environment.
- Demonstrated experience in project management and managing maintenance budgets.
- Extensive knowledge of building design, construction, and engineering systems.
- Proficiency in CAD software and Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional designation in Engineering (P.Eng) or Architecture.
- Certifications in facilities design and management (e.g., CFM, FMA, or BOMA).
- Experience working within complex organizational environments or academic settings.
- Experience managing facilities that include research laboratories or specialized workshops.
