Director, Export Control Program

Responsibilities

• Lead a comprehensive export control compliance program across all CMU campuses
• Advise the CMU community on export control issues and provide guidance on high-priority reviews
• Prepare and oversee compliance documentation and filings, including export control licenses
• Develop and implement effective export control policies, procedures, and risk-based monitoring
• Manage staff assignments, department resources, and supervisory authority
• Conduct periodic quality assurance reviews and investigate suspected export violations
• Develop and implement training and mentoring programs for the research community

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in export controls, compliance, or international trade frameworks
• Strong knowledge of ITAR and EAR regulations
• Successful background check

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree
• Experience leading and managing teams
• Certified Export Compliance Professional (CECP) certification
• Experience conducting audits and training for staff on export regulations
